From the EBF class, I learned the basics of the finance, how
to read financial information of a company, such as income statement and balance
sheet, and the different forms of company. I chose the form of Limited
Liability Company (LLC) for my business because I can control my business more
than Corporation and also I do not have enough money to start my business as
solo proprietorship.
This class gave me an opportunity to interview with a
company CEO. My father runs his own business in Japan, but I had never asked
about his business before. I learned that his company is small but his company
can survive because his market is a niche market but connecting with big
corporations in Japan. Therefore, his
company does not have many competitions and the market is stable as long as big
corporations keep their business. This interview gave an idea that finding a
niche market is very important for maintain a new business.
In the end of this class, I made a pro-forma for my business
plan. There were some problems that I had to fix, but my business plan became
more realistic after I finished pro-forma assignment.
